THE BLOODLINE WAR

How the Bloodline War began is unknown as none who started the war survived it — few who fought in it survive to this either. The war spanned 300 years from 700-1000 CE approximately. The fighting is thought to have broken out around Greece and spread across Europe and Northern Africa.

Due to the widespead fighting, humans became aware of the existence of vampires and created the Brotherhood of the Blackthorn Blades to hunt and eliminate them.

By the end of the war, the Eretik bloodline had been wiped out, and the remaining 3 bloodlines had been driven almost to extinction. This led the remaining vampires to seek peace. Since the Draugar was the strongest bloodline after the war the others had no choice but to accept their terms.

Teremun and his night siblings founded the Nytarch to govern all vampires and he pushed their race back into secrecy so that the humans would hunt them no longer.
